about

Kingsland church

SMAAAK (short for Friends of  St Michael & All Angels Kingsland) is a non-religious charity set up in 2013 to raise funds for the restoration and improvement of Kingsland’s beautiful Grade 1 listed parish church; and to promote a diverse programme of complementary art and live entertainment events. In doing this, as well as working closely with the wonderful businesses and organisations based in , Kingsland we have partnered with Arts Alive as one of their Live Event Promoters. To date we have run over 45 live events and look forward to doing more. For up and coming event see our Events page.

Our story so far…So far, with your kind support, we have raised over £35,000 which has gone towards the repair of the church roof, guttering, drainage and to restore the two exquisite  quatrefoil windows in the East wall. But much more needs to be done: heating modernised, interior redecorated, more windows repaired….The repairs and restoration work is estimated at £350,000 and  though  English Heritage have agreed to give us support,  we need to raise sums elsewhere over the next 2 years to effect the necessary repairs and improvements.

You can help by:

– supporting and helping run SMAAAK fund raising events
– suggesting other fund raising activities which may prove popular, and  of course – donating  money!
